Everybody wants to have friends...

It seems as I've gotten older that I can't make friends.  Ok, lets be honest I'm not really sure I ever could.  I had my best friend all through school and a few others sprinkled in here or there, but I would not say people were beating down my door to hang out.  Don't worry this is not a sympathy post...I'm totally cool with not being the most popular.

However, yesterday I figured out that maybe other ladies were just like me.....waiting to be invited.  Yesterday I went out on a limb and sent a group text to the softball moms (all of our girls just played softball together for last four months) and asked if they wanted to get together for a ladies only dinner.  The response was overwhelming!!  You see, I was just sure all of these ladies would think I was a nut case.  In my head I conjured up the idea that they all have tons of friends that they can do dinner with or call upon when they have a hard day.  Why would they want to hang out with little ol' me....ya know?!?  Well let me tell you....I'm so excited to say everyone was all about it!  It really paid off putting myself out there.

I just fell in love with these ladies during softball and could totally relate to them.  I'm one of those gals that needs to hash it out with girlfriends....needs to have other moms hear my fears....get the reassurance that only other moms can give.

So, I'm forging friendships and putting myself out there.  I think maybe people are just waiting to be invited....

Enjoy some fabulous softball pictures from this season!!

I can't believe it's been 8 months.....Eeeekkkk!

I can't believe it has been 8 months since I last posted anything.  Time has really flown by and it seems to just keep moving faster.

Today seems like a perfect opportunity to start posting again and remembering why I wanted to do it in the first place!  Life is short...I just want to reflect a little each day and remember all the great things I'm thankful for!

Am I a good Mom?!?

I had a friend say to me today that she couldn't wait to get back to work...she had just had her sweet baby M about six weeks ago.  She then proceeded to tell me that she felt guilty about saying that sometimes.  I too had carried this guilt and some days it still wants to creep in.

Am I enough?

Am I doing enough?

Do I love her enough?

The answers to all these questions is yes.  I do all I can and I love her to the moon and back!  My heart can't possibly hold all the love I have for her.

I only make it to about 75% of her class parties, she doesn't always have the most nutritious breakfast, lunch, or dinner in the world.  I can't be at school helping out the teacher.  I can't go on field trips all the time.  I can't eat lunch with her at school everyday or even every month.

This is what I do know.  She eats everyday.  She bathes everyday.  Her home is warm and she has clean clothes to wear everyday.  I'm only a phone call away.  I always be there when she wants to talk.  I'll cuddle her at night and tell her I love her.  She'll never have to wonder if I care.  Some days she will be so mad at me, but I won't care because at least I know she is safe.

She is my favorite!

My sweet K got glasses this week and will start braces this summer.  We had an eventful week and she handled it like a trooper.  She definitely got my eyes and teeth! Ha!

Catching Up

Holy Moly!! I can't believe that it has been over a week since my last post.  It seems that life has been extremely hectic for us lately and only going to get worse!!!

What we have been up to!

We did First Friday on the Bentonville square

It was Wal-Marts Toyland!  We got to see lots of characters, try out new toys, and actually take some home!  We had lots of fun, but it was insanely busy!  I think we were all a little overwhelmed by the amount of people there.

We are redoing a coffee table...more on that to come, but here are some work in progress pictures.

The pictures are rough, but they are from my phone.  Miss K had to get in on the action...she is quite the painter.

Mostly we have just been trying to spend time as a family and enjoy what is left of the nice weather!

Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies

Today I'm participating in Show Us your Life: Favorite desserts.  You can find out more info here.

One of my most favorite things to make is pumpkin chocolate chip cookies.  I absolutely love everything pumpkin and chocolate, so these are perfect for me!

A friend of mine made this cute cookie book for me when we did a cookie exchange and I made the pumpkin chocolate chip cookies.

I have my mixer and ingredients all ready to go!  My Kitchen Aid mixer is my dream mixer and was a very special present, but that is a story for a different day!  On to cookie making!

Start by mixing your sugar, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla together until combined.

Next add flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and mix until combined.

Next add your chocolate chips and mix.
You should end up with something like this.
Drop by spoonfuls on to a greased baking sheet and bake at 350 for 10 minutes or until edges are set.

These are so beautiful!  Yummy!!!

Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies

4 cups flour
2 tsp baking powder
2 tsp baking soda
2 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp nutmeg
1/2 tsp salt
2 1/2 cups sugar
3/4 cup vegetable oil
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
2 15oz cans of pumpkin puree
10 oz of semi-sweet chocolate chips

Pre-heat oven to 350.  Beat sugar, eggs, vegetable oil, and vanilla together until combined.  Add in flour, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and pumpkin mixing until combined.  Fold in chocolate chips.  Drop by spoonfuls on to greased cookie sheet and bake for 10 minutes or until edges are set.  Note:  these cookies don't spread out they rise like cake!

Hope ya'll enjoy as much as we do!
